Chapter Two Hundred Forty Six
It is lonely around here now. Some of our good friends were here visiting for several days and we had so much fun. We hadn't seen them since the Sturbridge Miniature Show last spring and we had a lot of catching up to do. We Hittys got to play while Martha and Esther worked at sewing and I think, talked every minute!
Top on the list of projects was to make Great Aunt Doll some new dresses. The fabric boxes were brought out for her to choose some pieces she liked.
When the first dress was finished Becassine, Grandma Alice and Aunt Doll took a break and enjoyed a cup of tea and a doughnut. Aunt Doll was exhausted from all the trying on and fitting of the dress and glad to get a chance just to sit and chat.
In the meantime, Hitty Jean and HittyBelle played out in the playhouse. Several of us went out to coax them to come back inside but they insisted is was such a pretty day that they wanted to stay outside longer. This time of year the weather can be absolutely wonderful - slightly cool days with beautiful sunshine.
There was the usual trip to the Volant Miniature Shop as it is time choose the Halloween items we will need for the holiday. We do like getting to pick and choose. The rest of the time was spent watching Martha and Esther work on their projects. Oh yes, and watching the two Imas pretending they were twins and even insisting on dressing alike. More of them can be see on our friend's blog "A Visit With Hitty". http://hittyjean.wordpress.com
We
Hittys do our best to keep up with current times but sometimes one can get
carried away with modern gadgets. At our house, Grandma Alice has fallen in
love with the iPhone! For the past week or so, it has been her constant
companion!
Hopefully the novelty will wear off and she will return to baking cookies, reading us stories and just being our sweet Grandma again.
